Being married to a newspaper editor, it was inevitable that I would be the focus of some media attention. However, we have been clear from the outset that the media coverage - and indeed this website - is not to benefit me. We wanted to harness the media so that the publicity received through my campaign would be of benefit to leukaemia patients everywhere. This plan worked. During the month of August 2013 when I revealed the news I would need a stem cell transplant, both Anthony Nolan and the National Blood Service donor scheme received a 15 per cent increase in potential donors in the area.I have been a regular feature in both the Burton Mail and Ashbourne News Telegraph newspapers, but I have also appeared in the Derby Telegraph, the Daily Express and the Daily Telegraph.
