I believe that education is key to improving donor numbers. As the Anthony Nolan register requires young, fit adults between the ages of 16 and 30 to join its stem cell register, the ideal candidates are sixth form and college students.Following my pleas, Burton and South Derbyshire College agreed to work with me on a project which will hopefully continue for years to come. The aim is to vastly increase donor numbers in Burton and South Derbyshire. In July 2014, meetings took place between Anthony Nolan, Burton and South Derbyshire College, the college’s students union, and myself to discuss ideas. The first student workshops are donor sessions are set to commence in September 2014.
